SOFT MOIST DIETS

Description

This diet offers not only soft texture, but a high degree of palatability as well as improved nutrient quality which results in high weight gain, excellent food conversion, and improved survival.  The feed can be stored without refrigeration providing added cost savings and feeding convenience.  A multiple vitamin supplement, stabilized vitamin C, and a number of stabilizers and preservatives are all incorporated into the formula.

Uses
The soft moist diet is designed to be fed to species which are difficult to rear on conventional or extruded dry feeds.  Some species have a tendency to reject dry feeds at water temperatures below 10 C, particularly in the early life stages.  This diet is formulated to address these types of adverse rearing conditions.  Pigment (Astaxanthin) is available at 40 mg/kg (1 lb/ton) and 80 mg/kg (2 lb/ton) upon request for flesh or egg coloration.  Successful field tests of this diet have shown it to perform as well or better than other moist diets.

MEDICATED DIETS

Description

Rangen's medicated feeds are formulated with rapid treatment and recovery of diseased fish in mind.  Particular care has been given to the formulation of the feed itself, to ensure it provides enhanced and well balanced nutrition during the treatment period.  The high quality protein and lipid contribute to added palatability of the medicated feed as well as increased digestibility at a time when the fish are not feeding readily.  This formulation utilizes increased levels of vitamins including stabilized vitamin C and higher levels of minerals.  Particular attention has been given to balanced amino acids.

Uses
The feed is formulated to the requirements of the most nutritionally demanding fish, which means that it can be used interchangeably for all commonly cultured species.  The use of a common base formula also allows Rangen Inc. to maintain a floorstock of these medicated feeds and provide immediate shipment when an order is placed.  Two medicated treatments available as floorstock are:

1) Oxytetracycline  at 4000 and 8000 gms/ton     (2.0 and 4.0 gms per pound).

2) Romet @ 1.67%.  Active ingredients in Romet are Sulfadimethoxine and Ormetoprim (5:1)

Other dosages not always in stock can be made available upon special request.

High Performance (EXTRUDED)

Description
This diet utilizes highly available ingredients that are palatable and digestible.  The diet can be formulated to contain 20 or 25% lipid with both internal and external amounts of marine oil.  The manufacture of this diet, utilizing extrusion technology, further improves the availability of the nutrients to the fish resulting in less pond waste, improved feed conversion rates, and less fines.

Uses

Higher fat diets are becoming more popular for both the rearing of trout and Atlantic salmon.  They are highly efficient resulting in better feed conversions than conventional diets.  Rangen’s high performance diet adds another dimension in that it utilizes ingredients that are more available to the fish and results in less nitrogen discharge to the effluent.  Pigment (Astaxanthin) is available at 40 mg/kg (1 lb/ton) and 80 mg/kg (2 lb/ton) upon request for flesh coloration.

WARM WATER EXTRUDED DIETS (HIGH PERFORMANCE)

Description
Warm water extruded diets utilize extrusion technology which aids in the diets  high digestibility and superior pellet quality.  The high performance diets are available in protein contents of 32 and 35 percent with the higher protein level geared for more intensive rearing.  These diets utilize higher levels of fish and animal proteins which results in higher performance for growth and feed conversions than our Production Warm Water feeds.  The extruded feeds are fortified with vitamins, minerals, and various additives to assure the fish are receiving all the required nutrients.

Uses
These diets are used for both Tilapia and Catfish rearing after the fish have reached a size beyond feeding on crumble formulations.  For fry sized fish, we recommend our Tilapia Starter Diet or regular Starter Diet followed by the Trout grower through the #4 or course crumble size of feed. The EXTR 350 diet is formulated to promote maximum growth rates under highly intensive culture conditions whereas the EXTR 320 is geared more to moderate stocking rates.  Both diets can be fed using ponds or raceway rearing conditions.
